[22] One day he got into a boat with his disciples, and he said to them, “Let us go across to the other side of the lake.” So they set out, [23] and as they sailed he fell asleep. And a windstorm came down on the lake, and they were filling with water and were in danger. [24] And they went and woke him, saying, “Master, Master, we are perishing!” And he awoke and rebuked the wind and the raging waves, and they ceased, and there was a calm. [25] He said to them, “Where is your faith?” And they were afraid, and they marveled, saying to one another, “Who then is this, that he commands even winds and water, and they obey him?” [Luke 8:22-25]

  1. Peace, Calm, Rest… Jesus. He is with Us.
  2. Peace, Calm, Rest… Jesus. Obey Him and trust Him.
  3. Peace, Calm, Rest… Jesus. Love Him and fear Him.

[2] “Behold, God is my salvation; I will trust, and will not be afraid; for the LORD GOD is my strength and my song, and he has become my salvation.” [Is 12:2]

[6] Humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God so that at the proper time he may exalt you, [7] casting all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you. [1Pet 5:6-7]

[5] He set the earth on its foundations, so that it should never be moved. [6] You covered it with the deep as with a garment; the waters stood above the mountains. [7] At your rebuke they fled; at the sound of your thunder they took to flight. [Ps 104:5-7]

[3] The voice of the LORD is over the waters; the God of glory thunders, the LORD, over many waters. [Ps 29:3]

[5] …O God of our salvation, the hope of all the ends of the earth and of the farthest seas; [6] the one… [7] who stills the roaring of the seas, the roaring of their waves, the tumult of the peoples, [Ps 65:5-7]

[8] O LORD God of hosts, who is mighty as you are, O LORD, with your faithfulness all around you? [9] You rule the raging of the sea; when its waves rise, you still them. [Ps 89:8-9]

[3] The floods have lifted up, O LORD, the floods have lifted up their voice; the floods lift up their roaring. [4] Mightier than the thunders of many waters, mightier than the waves of the sea, the LORD on high is mighty! [Ps 93:3-4]

[25] For he commanded and raised the stormy wind, which lifted up the waves of the sea… [28] Then they cried to the LORD in their trouble, and he delivered them from their distress. [29] He made the storm be still, and the waves of the sea were hushed. [30] Then they were glad that the waters were quiet, and he brought them to their desired haven. [31] Let them thank the LORD for his steadfast love, for his wondrous works to the children of man! [Ps 107:25-31]

[1] Now the word of the LORD came to Jonah the son of Amittai, saying, [2] “Arise, go to Nineveh, that great city, and call out against it, for their evil has come up before me.” [3] But Jonah rose to flee to Tarshish from the presence of the LORD. He went down to Joppa and found a ship going to Tarshish. So he paid the fare and went down into it, to go with them to Tarshish, away from the presence of the LORD. [4] But the LORD hurled a great wind upon the sea, and there was a mighty tempest on the sea, so that the ship threatened to break up. [Jonah 1:1-4]

[18] The Lord will rescue me from every evil deed and bring me safely into his heavenly kingdom. To him be the glory forever and ever. Amen. [2Tim 4:18]

[27] Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid. [John 14:27]

[25] …”Save us, Lord; we are perishing.” [Matt 8:23-27]

[36] And leaving the crowd, they took him with them in the boat, just as he was. And other boats were with him… [38] But he was in the stern, asleep on the cushion… [39] And he awoke and rebuked the wind and said to the sea, “Peace! Be still!” And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm… [Mr 4:36-41]
